That’s why I’ve stuck to word forms for my list. Some verb forms are actually purely theoretical and only found in grammar discussions). (hablas is a LOT more common than hablaríais, but both are lumped together if lemmatized. Besides this, lemmatisation causes both rare and common forms to be lumped together, and when you’re facing several dozen forms per verb, it’s very important to prioritize the most common forms first. There are many word forms, including verb forms, that can have completely different things.

This list comes from actual Spanish-language TV shows, unlike the Subtlex list and other lists circulating online, which come from Spanish subtitles of American movies and thus do not reflect real Spanish.Īlso, what’s the logic behind 300 words, 800 words, 1500 words? Why not just I created this list from thousands of subtitles from Spanish language TV shows and movies I downloaded from Netflix and then processed using AntConc.

(You should never rely on frequency alone, because if there’s a movie where Finn spends 2 hours shouting “Rey!” then Rey will end up near the top of your list). I have a list of more than 10K words ordered by Contextual Diversity and by frequency. I’m curious: What list are you using? It’s funny because it considers “tres” (three) not to be among the top 1,500 words, but in my data it’s word number 106. I prefer to use Anki only for vocab or other small building blocks of language learning, so I don't really have any other suggestions.Hi! I’ve just noticed you’ve added a new feature that highlights less important words for different levels. I get 77% of the cards I am learning correct, and 95% of both young and mature cards. I already knew some of the words in the deck (did an A1 course and some A2), but the majority of them i never saw/heard before (where i live there is no spanish at all in every day life). Usually about half of them are all new, the other half are note2 cards of cards of which I already learned card 1 of.

The 'written' cards are a nice touch, but too much of a hassle imo. And since there is no article on the front of the cards, you already practise those with the first notes too (and they are easy in spanish.). There is tss on each card already, so you already train your listening comprehension. I deleted all but those first two notes (would take too much data and time). There is spanish word (without article) - > picture + article, picture - > spanish, spoken word 1 - > picture + spanish, spoken word 2 - > picture + spanish, spanish word without article and you have to guess it, and notes where you have to write the spanish word on your keyboard. Per card you have 5-6 notes, so if you do all of them you would know each word very well. I think it covers most every day life words you need, and it also has a broad variety of different themes so you can talk a bit about/understand different topics. Most of the words in the deck are nouns, which I really like as those are most useful to me as a total beginner. I have those card marked with the intention of changing the picture, but actually having them marked already prompts me to get them right.Įach card has a picture, link to the dictionary, and tss like speech (handy, I use it to practice my prononciation). The deck is very well made, even a bit too much! The pictures are well chosen, i am more than halfway through the deck and only a handful of the pictures I find ambigious. My favorite beginner one is: spanish/español for beginners, a1/a2, ipa, first 1000 words Users that routinely delete their posts once they receive an answer might be excluded from participating on the sub.
